My work-from-home setup has continued to evolve over the years. Here’s how it looked a few weeks ago…when it was a looking-for-work-from-home setup:
And, here’s the current setup:
Core tech includes:
- Laptops:
- Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14″ 2-in-1 (personal)
- Dell Latitude 7480 (work)
- Monitors:
- ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV 27″ WQHD (2560 x 1440) Monitor (personal)
- Dell UltraSharp 24″ FHD (1920×1080) Monitor (work)
- I use a dual-monitor setup during the workday, but have an HDMI 2 in/1 out switch so I can easily use the ASUS from either laptop with the push of a button.
- Keyboard / Mouse:
- Logitech MX Keys + Logitech MX Master 3
- These are fantastic! And I love being able to easily switch between computers as needed.
- Apple iPad Pro (9.7-inch)
- During the day, mostly used to display the weather + time or for streaming news.
- Other times used for note-taking. I enjoy using the Apple Pencil and taking hand-written notes or sketching ideas.
- Audio:
- Sony WH-1000XM2 headphones
- Jabra Elite75t earbuds
- Logitech Z337 2.1 speakers
- Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500
- This is old but still quite a beast! I try to lead a digital lifestyle as much as possible, and this scanner makes it easy to deal with any paper that I encounter.
- Samsung Galaxy S10+
- I used iPhones for years but got tired of jailbreaking. I’m not a “fan boy” one way or the other, but haven’t been tempted to switch back to Apple for many, many years.
- Desk
- My current desk is an L-shaped setup that I purchased at Costco. It’s served me well over the years, and has a lot of desktop space and storage. However, I got spoiled by having a standing desk at work. I don’t like standing often, but it’s great to be able to stand whenever I feel the need. I’m waiting for an Uplift standing desk to arrive in a couple weeks, and then my battlestation will begin to take its “final” form. Meanwhile, I’m slowly trying to simplify and consolidate all of the junk I currently have on and in my desk.
